  1. First, position yourself and your baby lying down on your sides tummy-to-tummy.
  2. Bend your top leg and position with pillows under your upper knee.
  3. Place your fingers beneath your breast and lift upward, then pull your baby in close as he/she latches-on.
The side-lying position is an especially good choice for breasdfeeding when:
  • You must be flat after a cesarean birth with spinal anesthesia.
  • You are uncomfortable sitting up(episiotomy or hemorrhoid pain).
  • You need help from someone else to get your baby latched-on.
  • You are tired and want to rest.
